ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Asheville say a man is facing charges after investigators say he embezzled more than $10,000 from the a mall store.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (https://avlne.ws/1r4zCCg) warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office show 33-year-old John Michael Connell is charged with embezzlement and obtaining property by false pretense,

According to warrants, Connell is accused of embezzling $10,517.76 in cash from Sunglass Hut at Asheville Mall by creating fraudulent receipts.

Connell was released on a written promise to appear in court. It isn’t known if he has an attorney.
