LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The state’s Judicial Resources Commission will hold a public hearing to determine whether to fill two judgeships in the state.

The commission will meet Sept. 24 in Lincoln, with participates from Omaha Hastings and North Platte participating by video.

The group will determine whether a vacancy exists in Lancaster County following the resignation of County Judge Gale Pokorny on Sept. 1. It will also determine whether a vacancy exists in Hall County with the retirement, effective Oct. 1, of District Judge James Livingston.

At the hearing, the commission will receive information on the district’s judicial workload statistics and make a recommendation to the Nebraska Legislature as to whether there is a need to fill the vacancies.
