GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Sears Holdings is closing its Sears store and auto center at the Holiday Village Mall in Great Falls in early December.

Sears spokesman Howard Riefs tells the Great Falls Tribune (https://gftrib.com/1wHQwvc ) the liquidation sale will begin on Sept. 26.

The store’s 65 employees are eligible to receive severance pay and can apply for positions at area Sears or Kmart stores. Riefs says the Sears stores in Billings and Missoula will continue to operate.

Sears shares have fallen nearly 57 percent from its 52-week high of $67.50 to around $29 on Thursday morning. Shares have fallen 13 percent since the company announced Tuesday it had taken a short-term $400 million loan from its CEO, Edward Lampert.

Sears has been closing stores to reduce expenses. It also announced store closures in Marion, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; Bluefield, West Virginia and Waterford, Michigan on Wednesday.
