SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A suspicious device disrupted traffic in downtown Sioux Falls while authorities investigated.

A bomb squad was called out Wednesday evening after the device was found. Police described it as an object about the size of a 2-liter soda bottle, wrapped in cloth with wires on it.

The bomb squad used a robot to examine the device from a distance, then detonated it as a precaution. Authorities later determined that the object did not contain explosives.

Traffic was diverted for about two hours during the investigation.
