EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Wanted in Everett: a new city logo.

City officials are holding a public competition to find a new city logo. The creator of the winning design will be awarded $5,000. The contest is open to anyone. The winning design will find its way onto city documents, uniforms, vehicles and other city properties.

The Everett Herald reports Thursday (https://bit.ly/ZrysHZ) that although the current logo is 20 years old, city officials say it’s time to update it.

The contest will allow anyone to upload either a completed logo or a design concept. The public will then vote on favorites, and the public’s top 15, plus five more selected by the city’s Cultural Arts Commission, will be forwarded to a judging panel.

City officials that once a new logo is chosen, the roll out will be gradual to keep costs down, estimating the process to cost $10,000 to $12,000, including the award money.
