PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a staffing agency worker is in critical condition after she was stabbed repeatedly at her South Philadelphia office.

Authorities say the 53-year-old woman was working alone Thursday morning when a man came in, asked for work and then stabbed her three times. They say he also took her purse.

A police department spokeswoman says an arrest has been made Thursday afternoon. The suspect’s name is not yet being released.

Officials say the victim was able to walk to nearby Methodist Hospital before being transferred to Jefferson University Hospital.

Police say a weapon was recovered after the 10 a.m. attack at Trinity Staffing Services.
