SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - For the first time in years, Greene County employees are getting a raise.

The county announced Thursday that employees will see a 3 percent raise in their Oct. 3 paychecks. In a letter to employees, Presiding Commissioner Jim Viebrock said county leaders are evaluating the budget to see if another raise will be possible next year.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (https://sgfnow.co/1p3sBOW ) the county has had financial struggles for years and had not raised employees’ wages for six years.

The commissioners said in a letter that the county’s fund balance had reached a level to allow the raises.
