COMMACK, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island school district says it’s considering disciplinary and legal action against students shown on Twitter wearing shirts spelling out “rape.”

The Commack School District says the seniors posed for the photos Thursday near the school football field after sitting for the annual class picture.

One image shows the students in black T-shirts emblazoned with gold letters spelling out “RAPE?”

A second image shows the question mark replaced with a period and another student lying on the ground with his hands tied up.

The district says it’s investigating.

Administrators called the photos “reprehensible” and say students involved “showed an inexcusable lack of judgment.”

Counselors at the Long Island rape crisis center VIBS say it’s an opportunity to educate young people on the seriousness of rape and sexual assault.
