OCALA, Fla. (AP) - All Ocala police officers will soon wear cameras on their uniforms.

Police Chief Greg Graham says the cameras will improve city policing by making interactions between officers and the public more transparent.

City Council President John McLeod told the Ocala Star-Banner (https://bit.ly/YUPkaa ) that the cameras help overall safety and liability issues by providing important evidence of police interactions.

Chief Graham says that the officers embrace the technology, knowing it makes them safer and can help more easily settle complaints about officer conduct.

Right now motorcycle officers are wearing the cameras, but a unanimous vote by the City Council approved funding to buy more for the entire force.
