JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - C Spire is adding the city of Jackson to its high-speed fiber optic Internet service.

The city’s franchise agreement to offer C Spire’s Fiber To The Home high-speed Internet service was announced Tuesday.

Individual neighborhoods will get service if enough people in those neighborhoods sign up. The service costs from $70 a month for Internet service to $150 per month for a web/phone/TV bundle.

C Spire says the percentage of Jackson’s estimated 172,638 residents needing to sign up for the city to get the service range from 35 percent to 45 percent.

At 1 Gigabit per second, C Spire says it offers Internet speeds 100 times faster than its competitors.

The other cities that have pre-qualified include Batesville, Clinton, Corinth, Hattiesburg, Horn Lake, McComb, Quitman, Ridgeland and Starkville.
