COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - A Lowndes County has been convicted of manslaughter for shooting and killing a man allegedly romantically involved with the defendant’s wife.

The Commercial Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1qlfVXJ ) 49-year-old George Strickland was convicted Friday in circuit court in the 2011 fatal shooting of 36-year-old Christopher George.

Prosecutors say Strickland shot George after Strickland found him in bed with his wife. They say the men argued at the couple’s home Steens and George was shot multiple times, according to investigators.

George was pronounced dead at the scene. Prosecutors say George was living with the couple at the time of the incident.

Strickland claimed self-defense in the shooting, saying George pulled a knife on him during the confrontation.



Strickland will be sentenced Wednesday. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
