MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say an apparent medical emergency caused an officer to crash into another car near Miller Park.

Lt. Mark Stanmeyer said the 22-year-old officer was driving southbound Monday morning when he rear-ended a car stopped at a red light.

Stanmeyer says the officer and a 35-year-old woman who was in the stopped car were taken to hospitals for treatment. He says both the officer and the woman were treated and released.

Police continue to investigate. They aren’t specifying what type of medical emergency they believe caused the crash. The officer will be assigned to desk duty pending the outcome of additional tests.
