CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Business leaders are hoping that a new logo and street banners will improve the image of downtown Cedar Rapids as a place to live and enjoy.

Members of the city’s Downtown Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District unveiled the logo Tuesday featuring the city’s skyline and “CR Downtown.”

The logo and a tagline that reads “Dine. Dwell. Do” will be included on new street banners around the city.

Randy Rings, a businessman who chairs the district’s commission, says the logo and banners will help make a positive impression on residents and visitors, at a time when the city’s downtown has recovered from a devastating flood.

The city says the facade program had been planned before the 2008 flood, but was postponed.
