KEARNY, N.J. (AP) - PATH train service has been restored between Newark and Journal Square after it was suspended due to a track fire on the Hack Bridge crossing the Hackensack River in Kearny.

Port Authority officials say the service was suspended at 3:30 p.m. and restored shortly before 6 p.m. But riders were warned to expect residual delays during the evening.

It’s not yet known what sparked the fire, which ignited railroad ties on the bridge. But officials say it may have been caused by an electrical problem.
