RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond police are searching for whoever spray-painted graffiti on the city’s J.E.B. Stuart monument.

Police tell media outlets that someone spray-painted an expletive followed by “work” on the monument honoring the Civil War general. There also was a drawing of what appeared to be a hammer and a sickle.

The vandalism was discovered Monday.

Police say they have no suspects.

The monument is one of several commemorating Civil War Confederate figures on Monument Avenue. There also is a monument honoring Richmond native and tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.
