TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson man escaped injury when his house caught fire.

Fire Capt. Barrett Baker says the home didn’t have a working smoke detector but that something woke up the resident early Tuesday morning and he was able to get out of the house.

Meanwhile, police officers had seen smoke in the area and called dispatchers when they spotted the house on fire.

Firefighters put out the fire after arriving to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.

Cause of the fire is under investigation. The house is considered a total loss.
