WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Two Worcester police officers were injured when a sport utility vehicle hit the back of their cruiser and drove away, leaving a crucial clue behind.
Police say they were able to track down the driver because the SUV’s front bumper detached in the accident with the license plate still attached.
The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/1w3Bgpj) reports that 29-year-old Daniel Fournier pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges including drunken driving and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was released on $2,500 cash bail
The officers were on patrol at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday when the SUV ran into the cruiser hard enough to spin it around and snap off a wheel.
The officers suffered injuries to their legs, neck, back and chest. They were treated and released at a hospital.
