CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Attempted murder charges have been filed against a man who allegedly slashed a woman in a southern New Jersey home and stabbed her adult son when he tried to intervene.

Camden County prosecutors say the attack occurred around 4:45 a.m. Saturday during a domestic dispute, but did not say what sparked the argument. They also didn’t specify the relationship between the victims and the alleged assailant, 30-year-old Camden resident Jose Flores.

Prosecutors say Flores used a box cutter to cut the throat of a 37-year-old woman. The victim’s 19-year-old son heard his mother’s cries for help and tried to intervene, but was cut in the neck.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. The woman was in critical but stable condition, while her son was in stable condition.
