DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Dubuque police officer attempting to arrest a woman suffered a serious knee injury earlier this week, the Dubuque Times Herald reported (https://bit.ly/1raPkgl ).

The injury occurred Wednesday when officers were called to a local hospital for a disturbance.

Police said the officers found a 50-year-old Bellevue, Iowa woman in the lobby of the hospital, yelling at hospital staff about her medical treatment. Officers were called after the woman grabbed one employee and had to be pulled off by another employee.

Police said the woman attempted to punch Officer Danielle Beck, who dodged the jab. As Beck and another officer tried to cuff the woman, all three fell to the ground, and the woman fell on Beck’s knee.

Beck was treated at the hospital and will be unable to return to duty for weeks, police said.
