LAKE CITY, S.C. (AP) - A new exhibition is bringing a set of influential etchings by the Spanish artist Francisco Goya to Lake City, which is increasingly becoming an arts hub in South Carolina.

The series of 80 etchings published in 1799 is considered one of the most influential series of graphic images in the history of Western art. They go on display Saturday at the Jones-Carter Gallery in downtown Lake City. The free exhibition runs through Jan. 3.

Each spring, Lake City is the venue for ArtFields, which features works by hundreds of artists from the Southeast. The 10-day event attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the old tobacco town and pumps millions of dollars into the local economy.
