ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - When a local center for underprivileged children was a recent victim of theft, the Orlando Magic decided to do something about it.

Magic player Victor Oladipo and other team representatives surprised the New Image Youth Center in Orlando’s Parramore district Thursday with new equipment, including big screen televisions, video games and computers.

The center was robbed Sept. 14, with thieves stealing about $6,000 worth of items. New Image originally opened in 2004, and was refurbished by the Magic with new plumbing, painting, furniture and computers in 2008. The center also received $10,000 from the team that year to purchase much of the equipment that was stolen.

Oladipo said that the gratitude the kids showed him and other team representatives Thursday “touched a soft part of my heart.”
