LONDON, Ky. (AP) - Police in southern Kentucky are searching for a Gray Hawk man after a grand jury handed up a murder charge stemming from a fatal wreck.

WYMT-TV in Hazard reported (https://bit.ly/XSa3Kr ) that Justin Wibbles failed to appear in court to answer the indictment, which also includes charges of wanton endangerment, and reckless driving.

Sheriff’s deputies say in June, Wibbles crossed the center line on Highway 30, to pass a slower car, when he crashed head-on into another car killing Jerry Thompson of East Bernstadt.

Investigators say Thompson had to be extricated from a White 2000 Dodge van after Wibbles’ Chevy Silverado struck it. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wibbles was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after the wreck, but was later released.
