LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Clark County School District has set an enrollment record for the third year in a row.

School board trustees announced that the more than 318,000 students who attended school on Friday make Clark County the fifth-largest school district in the country.

The district began the fall of 2013 with 314,000 students and grew by another 2,500 by the end of the school year.

Board Trustee Carolyn Edwards says the panel continues to search for ways to address overcrowding in many of the district’s 357 schools. She says elementary schools in general are operating at 18 percent over capacity.

Earlier this year, the district moved 10 additional schools to year-round schedules and rezoned 17 others in an effort to help ease the overcrowding.
