JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - An eastern Tennessee high school underwent an 80-minute lockdown after a student reported overhearing threats from a classmate.

Science Hill High School in Johnson City shut down Friday afternoon during the school’s flex time, when students are free to roam approved locations in the building. Supervisor of Safety and Mental Health Greg Wallace told The Johnson City Press (https://bit.ly/1p5UOEX) those out in common areas were instructed to report to the closest room with a locking door.

Wallace declined to give specifics about the threat that prompted the alert, but says administrators were made aware of a talking about causing harm to another student.

Wallace says no weapon was found during a search and no immediate threat was detected.

A pep rally scheduled for the football homecoming was canceled.
