CHAPLIN, Conn. (AP) - State police say devices found in a garage near Chaplin Town Hall in northeast Connecticut turned out to be three inert grenades and there is no threat to the community.

State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance says the state police bomb squad examined the devices and removed them. Vance says state police found no evidence of any crime.

Vance also contradicted earlier reports that the threat was detected at nearby Mansfield Town Hall Community Center.

After earlier reports of a threat, police at the University of Connecticut, about two miles away, urged members of the public to stay away from the area.
