ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A Cicero man has been convicted of a shooting that left his 15-year-old girlfriend dead and injured her mother outside their suburban Chicago home in February, Will County prosecutors said.

Erick Maya, 24, was found guilty Friday of murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the death of Briana Valle. Briana and her mother, Alicia Guerrero, were outside their Romeoville home when Maya shot Briana in the head and then shot Guerrero, prosecutors said.

Maya fled on foot and police found him several hours later hiding under a porch, prosecutors said. Briana died four days later. Guerrero survived and testified against Maya. The two-week trial started Sept. 8.

Judge Robert Livas is scheduled to sentence Maya on Oct. 20. He faces 45 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.
