UNITY, Maine (AP) - An annual fair that draws thousands of people to Maine to celebrate the state’s agricultural and rural heritage is drawing to a close.

Organizers expect the Common Ground Country Fair to draw about 60,000 visitors to Unity. Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association sponsors the event, which began in 1977.

Common Ground began Friday and ends on Sunday. Sunday’s events include demonstrations about raising turkeys, blacksmithing, composting, goat milking, garlic growing and home firewood production. The day’s keynote speaker will be Andre Leu, president of the International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements, who will talk about the health impacts of pesticides.
