HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say three men were arrested after they crashed a stolen car while being pursued by officers.

Detectives say Hempstead police saw the stolen Audi early Sunday but the driver refused to stop.

They say driver Delroy Carter lost control of the car and it crashed.

Police arrested Carter and his two passengers, Keyth Jeffers and Jermaine Powell.

Police say Jeffers had a loaded 9mm gun.

A Hempstead officer was injured while responding to the scene when his vehicle struck a parked car. He was treated and released from a hospital.

Carter also was treated and released for minor injuries.

Carter, Jeffers and Powell were arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.

No information was available on whether they had attorneys.
