MADISON, Ind. (AP) - State Police are investigating vandalism that left a southern Indiana veterans cemetery marred with muddy tire tracks near a row of headstones.

A state trooper found the tire tracks at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. The Ohio River city is about 40 miles northeast of Louisville, Kentucky.

The Madison Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1AZTZTw ) that the driver who vandalized the lawn appears to have accelerated rapidly, causing the vehicle’s tires to spin.

State Police say the tire tracks damaged about 89 feet of sod last Tuesday or Wednesday.

Cemetery officials told State Police that the Madison Police Department took a similar report of damage last year after another vehicle did “doughnuts” in the cemetery.

No suspects were identified in that incident.
