SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Dozens of electric car owners and enthusiasts marked National Drive Electric Week with a celebration in Sarasota.

The Bradenton Herald (https://bit.ly/1rcxxUT ) reports that about 50 electric-car owners gathered Saturday at the Mote Marina Laboratory and Aquarium.

The cars ranged from Tesla’s to Cadillacs and Chevrolet Volts.

Chris Isaak organized the event. Isaak is an environmental engineer and author of the book, “The Electric Car Revolution.” Isaak said he did the first oil change in his electric car at 50,000 miles and that electric are require less maintenance the traditional, gas-powered vehicles.

The event was sponsored in part by Florida Power & Light.
