CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. (AP) - Dozens of volunteers are working to clean up the waterways in Citrus County.

The Citrus County Chronicle (https://bit.ly/1AZlGfb ) reported Sunday that the volunteers are part of the annual Save our Water Week which began Saturday.

Among the volunteers was local resident Sharon Grizler who said she and other parents from Crystal River Primary School joined the effort because they want to protect the environment for their children.

Among the items she collected on Saturday were foam cups, duct tape, lots of cigarette butts, soda cans and even a small, dead snake.

The volunteers wore rubber gloves and water shoes as the filled trash bags with the debris.
