MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Department of Fish and Wildlife says some antlerless deer hunting permits are still available for parts of southwestern Vermont.

The department says the unallocated permits can be purchased from Fish and Wildlife on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wildlife Director Mark Scott says the permits are available in management units K and N in Bennington and Rutland counties are available because not enough people applied to hunt there.

Meanwhile, antlerless hunting permits will be mailed out in mid-November for the December muzzleloader season.

Hunters who applied for antlerless permits can check the department’s website to learn if they will be receiving a permit.
