BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Emergency responders rescued a 54-year-old man who fell nearly 70 feet at a steep overlook in southwest Idaho.

Officials say the man tripped on Saturday evening while walking on top of the wall that lines the Dedication Point overlook just south of Kuna.

Ada County Sheriff’s spokesman Patrick Orr says the man fell about 70 feet down the steep embankment.

A Kuna firefighter then traversed the incline and stayed with him until teams with repelling gear could rescue him.

Kuna Rural Fire District captain John Charlton says the man was conscious but had suffered a head injury and showed signs of internal injuries.

Authorities have not identified the man but say he was hospitalized in Boise in stable condition.
