BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - The Maine state fire marshal’s office says a Biddeford man has been charged with setting a fire that damaged a two-unit apartment house.

Forty-year-old Jason McGarey was arrested at his home Monday afternoon and charged with arson and burglary. He’s accused of breaking into the second-floor apartment Sunday night and setting numerous fires. Authorities say his former girlfriend lived there until recently.

It was unclear whether McGarey had a lawyer Monday.

Investigators say there is no connection between the Sunday night fire and one last week in Biddeford that left one man dead and another seriously injured.
