LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (AP) - An 88-year-old woman crashed her sedan into a Southern California restaurant during the lunch rush hour, leaving another 88-year-old woman with critical head trauma and three other people with less serious injuries.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi says Monday night that the 88-year-old woman’s condition was worsening and her life could be threatened after the accident at Polly’s Pies in Laguna Hills.

Concialdi says the driver was hospitalized with minor leg injuries.

Two other people inside the restaurant were also injured, including a 68-year-old man with a back injury and a woman with a minor head injury.

Concialdi says what caused the woman to drive into the restaurant wasn’t immediately clear.
