PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The average price of a gallon of gas in Rhode Island has fallen another 5 cents to its lowest of the year.

AAA Southern New England’s weekly price survey Monday found the average cost of a gallon of self-serve regular in the state fell to $3.43. The lowest it had been this year was $3.44 in early February.

The local price is down 9 cents in the last month. Still, the Rhode Island average is 9 cents more than the national per-gallon average.

Rhode Islanders were paying an average of 21 cents more per gallon, or $3.64, a year ago.

The survey found a 41-cent range, from a low of $3.27 a gallon to a high of $3.68 a gallon.
