FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - State Rep. Christopher Judy has been sworn in to office.

The Journal Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1uySauw ) the Fort Wayne Republican took his oath of office in the Indiana House Chambers in Indianapolis on Monday, being sworn in by Indiana Supreme Court Justice Brent Dickson. He replaces Rep. Kathy Heuer, R-Columbia City, who announced in August she was resigning her seat to join a medical industry trade group after being defeated by Judy in the Republican primary.

Judy is uncontested in the November election. His district covers parts of Allen and Whitley counties.

Judy supports the state’s gay marriage ban. Heuer lost the primary amid a backlash over her vote that helped keep a gay marriage ban off Indiana’s November ballot.
