SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 31-year-old man is in critical condition after he was slammed into the concrete floor of an upstate New York bar by another man.

Police in Saratoga Springs say they were called to the Paddock Lounge around 2 a.m. Friday for a report of an unconscious man. When officers arrived, patrons and workers at the downtown bar said the man had exchanged words with another man before being grabbed around the neck and slammed face-first into the floor.

Officials say the man suffered severe injuries to his head and face. He’s in critical condition at Saratoga Hospital.

Police say they arrested 25-year-old Jeffrey Mann of Wilton later Friday and charged him with assault. He’s being held in the county jail on $10,000 bail. If couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
