FRANKLINTON, La. (AP) - An 18-wheeler driver from Mississippi has been killed in a crash in Washington Parish.

Louisiana State Police say 57-year-old Joey Dunaway, of Kokomo, Mississippi, died shortly before 11 a.m. Monday. Investigators say the crash happened as Dunaway’s log truck was traveling south on Louisiana 62 and failed to maneuver a left curve and ran off the west side of the highway.

The truck rolled onto its right side and caught fire, engulfing the cab of the truck.

The parish coroner’s office pronounced Dunaway dead at the scene.

Authorities said restraint use was unknown because of the extent of the fire. Toxicology test results are pending.
