IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A man faces a burglary charge on suspicion of attacking a University of Iowa student in her dorm room and stealing her laptop, according to authorities.

Mark C. Spicer, 19, of Palo, entered Mayflower Hall in the early morning hours of Sept. 16, according a complaint by the school’s department of public safety. Records indicate he is not a student at the university.

Authorities say Spicer knocked on a woman’s dorm room and struck her face when she answered the door, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported (https://icp-c.com/1riaMQK ). He also allegedly spit in her face before taking her laptop.

A roommate was sleeping inside at the time. It is unclear if the roommate was involved in the incident.

Spicer faces a second-degree felony burglary charge. Court records do not list an attorney. He remains at the county jail, and his next court appearance is scheduled on Sept. 29.
