OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Smelling an opportunity to educate students about animal safety, an animal rights group has offered to send posters to an Ohio college where a skunk recently got its head stuck in a beer can.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it wrote Monday to Miami University president David Hodge offering posters showing a raccoon with its head stuck in a can to post around campus recycling bins. They urge people to crush cans for animal safety.

A Miami official didn’t respond immediately to a request for comment.

Oxford police responding to a call found the skunk near a fraternity house trying to get the can off. An animal control officer was able to free the skunk without being sprayed.

PETA says it’s shipping vegan cookies to thank police.
