BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - The newly renovated Brooks House is open to the public.

A fire gutted the historic Brattleboro, Vermont, building in April 2011 and a few months later, the streets were flooded due to Tropical Storm Irene.

Since then, a group of local businessmen and developer formed to purchase and renovate it.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/1bI41RH) the public was invited to the building on Saturday, checking out a new frozen yogurt shop. A jewelry shop and a restaurant were preparing to open soon.

Classes started last month at the building for Community College of Vermont and Vermont Technical College students.

A grand opening is planned for Oct. 3.
