WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A woman was stabbed multiple times in an attack in downtown Wilmington.

The Star News of Wilmington reported Sunday (https://bit.ly/1wDKyIN ) that authorities suspect the attacker may have been someone who knows the injured woman.

Wilmington Police Sgt. Rodney Dawson said the attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Queen Street. Dawson said the woman was stabbed multiple times in the face, back and arms with a small knife. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Dawson said the woman indicated to officers that she might know the person who allegedly attacked her. No arrest has been made. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
