FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - A second man has died from injuries suffered in a weekend explosion at a U.S. Steel plant near Birmingham.

A UAB Hospital spokesman tells al.com (https://bit.ly/1uWswlY ) Leo Bridges was pronounced dead at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday. Edward Lamar Bryant was pronounced dead Sunday after the explosion at the company’s Fairfield facility.

Al.com reports the third victim, Mac Bedwell, remains in critical condition at UAB Hospital in the trauma and burn intensive care unit.

Al.com reports that the company has its own security and paramedics who responded. They referred questions to the company’s headquarters.

Officials at the U.S. Steel headquarters in Pittsburgh released a statement Sunday saying an investigation was underway. They have not released any additional information.
