LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona man and two women from Texas have been injured in a boating accident on Lake Havasu along the Arizona-California border.

Mohave County Sheriff’s officials say the 17-foot boat struck a reef north of the Three Dunes on Monday evening.

They say 61-year-old Susan Arlene Soph was ejected and landed on shore while the operator, 58-year-old James John McDermott of Lake Havasu City, got pinned under the boat’s steering column.

Authorities say McDermott was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital while Soph was taken to a facility in Las Vegas, Nevada for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The other passenger from Houston, 38-year-old Kelly Wilson, was treated and released at a Lake Havasu City hospital.

Sheriff’s officials say the accident remains under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
