PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A former South Dakota judge has written a book about the history and architecture of the state’s justice buildings.

“County Capitols: The Courthouses of South Dakota” by Arthur Rusch will be released at the South Dakota Festival of Books on Friday in Sioux Falls.

It tells how pioneers building the state’s towns in southern Dakota Territory tried to ensure their communities would become commercial and industrial centers, and one of the things they did was fight over the location of county courthouses.
