LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a 25-year-old Ville Platte man who robbed a St. Landry Parish truck stop casino has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison.

The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1C9Rdh9 ) Dudley Stevens Nelson was sentenced Friday to 21 months for robbery and 84 months for using or carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, for a total of 105 months in prison.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said that evidence presented at the Oct. 28, 2013, guilty plea shows Nelson, along with Ville Platte residents Arinskie Tryvon Orlandeze Jones and Ronald James Doomes robbed the Tiger Trax truck stop and casino in Whiteville on April 8, 2011.

Finley says Nelson admitted to driving the vehicle and knowing that a gun would be used in the robbery.
