CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Oconee County authorities are trying to determine how a Clemson University student whose body was found in Lake Hartwell died.

Oconee County Corner Karl Addis said the body of 19-year-old Tucker Hipps of Piedmont was found in the lake Monday.

Clemson University officials said a vigil was planned Tuesday evening for the sophomore.

An autopsy was being conducted Tuesday. Addis said Monday that the death did not appear to be a swimming or boating accident.

The body was found in the lake between the two bridges on state Highway 93 across the Seneca River between Oconee and Pickens counties.

Oconee sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt said investigators don’t know if foul play was involved.
