BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The University of Colorado plans to have individual chancellors for its Denver and Anschutz Medical campuses.

President Bruce Benson announced the planned change Tuesday, saying the two growing campuses merit more focused leadership.

A national search for a CU Denver chancellor will begin this fall. The goal is to have one in place next summer.

Currently, one chancellor - Don Elliman - oversees both campuses.

Elliman will be chancellor of the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, while Jerry Wartgow, CU Denver chancellor emeritus, will lead that campus until a selection is made.

In addition to the Denver and Anschutz campuses, CU has campuses in Boulder and Colorado Springs.
