ORANGE PARK, Fla. (AP) - A north Florida sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being struck by a truck while directing traffic outside Oakleaf High School in Orange Park.

The incident happened Tuesday morning when a pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old girl was dropping off two students. Deputy Daniel Eshelman was hit in the legs and knocked to the ground.

The Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/Zc6hNm ) reports the deputy was wearing a safety vest and his patrol car was nearby with its flashing lights activated.

Eshelman was treated by a doctor but didn’t need to be hospitalized.

The teen was ticketed for careless driving and having no proof of insurance.
